Scared Adults Run Away

“It was enlightening today to see this does happen; adults seem to run away from the uncomfortable situation! However, kids do not run away because they do not have the option to do that. At times, they do try to run away from school, but they are brought back. These kids are frequently scared at school due to their learning disabilities, ADHD, or because they do not speak the school language (English). Unfortunately, what frequently happens once kids are brought back to school is that “consequences” for misbehaviour are administered instead of more attention being given to understanding the child’s perspective. That is why books like Nowhere to Hide, by Dr. Jerome Schultz are hugely important in correcting this terrible situation: adults not understanding what it is like to live with a learning disorder and/or ADHD and assuming children act up at school due primarily to wilful intention.”
